A good starting point for local information is www.fowey.co.uk or the Tourist Information Centre in Fowey when you arrive.
Cornish Gardens
Cornwall is famed for its gardens and there are many close by including The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan Lanhydrock House and gardens (National Trust), Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, Hidden Valley Gardens, Headland Gardens and Pine Lodge Gardens & Nursery.

Walking
There are many lovely walks in the surrounding area and a selection of books detailing local walks is available in the cottage, or your own copies can be bought from Tourist Information or bookshops in Fowey. Walks include the Hall Walk from Fowey via Bodinnick, Pont Creek and Polruan, The Saints Way from Padstow to Fowey (approximately 30 miles in total) and the path along the coastline, most of which belongs to the National Trust.
Tourist Attractions
Charlestown is famous for its tall ships and also has a Shipwreck, Rescue & Heritage Centre.
Par and the surrounding area is famous for its clay; to find out more about this industry visit The China Clay Country Park, St Austell where there is a museum within a 26 acre site of two former clay works.
Bodmin & Wenford Steam Railway is only a short drive away offering a nostalgic countryside trip.
If you enjoy a pint every now and then, why not take a tour around the St. Austell
Brewery and Visitor Centre -
Restormel Castle is also a short drive away in Lostwithiel and the Cornish fishing villages of Mevagissey and Polperro are also very close.
There are many other attractions within Cornwall within driving distance, including The Tate St Ives, and The National Maritime Museum, Falmouth. Check out visitcornwall.com for more ideas.
